After the financial crisis of 2008-2009, funding for forestry in Iceland was cut drastically. Recently, the Icelandic Government announced a new strategy which comprises a substantial increase in reforestation amongst other measures. As the issue of adaptation to a changing climate is becoming ever more important, the importance of forest research only increases.
