Fréttatilkynning: Eldiviðarráðstefna á Hallormsstað
Dagana 21-23 ágúst stendur yfir alþjóðleg eldiviðarráðstefna á Hallormsstað, Fljótsdalshéraði. Að henni standa tvö alþjóðleg verkefni, annars vegar á vegum Norrænu ráðherranefndarinnar (SNS) og hins vegar Norðurslóðaáætlunar Evrópusambandsins (NPP).
Á ráðstefnunni flytja meira 20 sérfræðingar og vísindamenn frá 7 löndum erindi um orkunotkun og orkuframleiðslu með viðarafurðum, um gróðurhúsaáhrifin og möguleika grænnar orku á næstu árum og áratugum.
Í alþjóðlegu samhengi er gríðarlega mikilvægt að leita leiða til að minnka losun gróðurhúsalofttegunda. Brennsla timburs í stað olíu/gas/kola er einn af fáum kostum í nálægri framtíð til að ná verulegum árangri í þessum efnum .
Margir kynnu að ætla að eldiviðarkynding ætti lítið erindi inn á íslenskan orkumarkað. Hins vegar hefur verið sýnt fram á að hún er raunhæfur kostur á ,köldum svæðum og með henni skapast markaður fyrir sívaxandi afurðir skógarbænda.
Skógráð ehf, Héraðsskógar og Skógrækt ríkisins á Hallormsstað annast skipulagningu ráðstefnunnar.
